Reports that say that something hasn’t happened are always interesting to me, because as we know, there are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns—the ones we don’t know we don’t know. And if one looks throughout the history of our country and other free countries, it is the latter category that tends to be the difficult ones

Donald Rumsfeld

Unknown unknowns are risks that come from situations that are so unexpected that they would not be considered.

The Dane could be one of the instigators of these kind of situations

The Dane is a project I came up with, because I wanted to write in a new form instead of writing your typical novel. It is meant to make the reader explore the story in his or her own time and order.

When reading a diary – someone elses anyway – you might want to jump to the end, skip some parts or read some of it several times. By using a website and not paper or an ebook format, the reader can do just that.

This means that I lose control as an author by not having the authority over the chronology. In place of that I have tried to insert internal links to help you link the pages and understand the story. But it is not meant to be easy. A part of this journey is about you discovering a story for yourself. So good luck with that.

To finance the carrier, services and other expenses, I have allowed some ads on the page. This is also a way of getting around the big publishers who often take too big a share of the profits. I figure that you are so used to online ads by now, that you don’t even really notice them anymore, and it does lend a bit of credibility to the store and lends it an air of newspaper or magazine.

Oh and just one bit of probably important stuff…

Everything on this webpage is made up – well maybe not all of it. Some of the historical events are real, but not the rest. “The Dane” is a nickname for a lot of characters in history and present day. There is no connection whatsoever to “The Dane” described on this website. I hope this doesn’t spoil the story too much for you, but I figure that I have to write it somewhere on here.

Have fun reading – and please share this site and the story with your friends. – and remember that you can join the story in the forum.
